Being vaccination the biggest weapon against Covid-19, authorities need to fasten the drive. Even after five months of the special vaccination drive, 15 percent of the health workers, across Jammu and Kashmir, have yet not taken a jab.

Though authorities are claiming to touch the target of 100 percent in vaccinating 45 years and above population in four districts, still 15 percent of health workers as well as 16 percent of front-line workers have yet to get vaccination.

As per reports, In a meeting with Union Home Secretary, Ajay Bhalla, it was informed that 75 percent of the population above 45 years has been vaccinated. It was also informed that, 85% of health care workers in J&K have been vaccinated, 84% of frontline workers and 10% of the population in the 18- 45 age category have been vaccinated.

It has been assured by the J&K government to the central government that 100% vaccination in the 45 age category by 30th June 2021 will be achieved. As well as 30% coverage in the 18- 45 years age category by 15th July 2021 through robust vaccination drives which have increased to a capacity of administering 1.6 lakh doses per day.

It is pertinent to mention that in J&K first phase of vaccination drive was started on January 15 this year to cover frontline health care workers.
