Upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir witness snowfall

The upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed snowfall since midnight and plains received rainfall as per officials.

An official of MeT department informed that light rain occurred at most places of Kashmir and at scattered places of Jammu. The official said weather will be cloudy and cold on Sunday.

The official further informed that Srinagar received rainfall of 2.4mm in 24 hours till 0830 hours while minimum temperature settled at 11.3°C against 6.0°C normal in the summer capital of J&K.

He further added that Pahalgam, recorded a low of 7.6°C and Kokernag, also in south Kashmir recorded a minimum of 8.3°C. he added that Kupwara had 2.4mm of rain while the north Kashmir district recorded a low 8.6°C on the previous night.

Official further informed that Gulmarg, also received rain of 7.8 mm and recorded a minimum of 5.0°C.
