Kishtwar :- In an audacious heist that reflects the security risks of banking at remote locations, thieves struck the Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch in Dachan area of Kishtwar District, escaping with about ₹19.5 lakh in cash.
The dastardly crime came to light on Monday, prompting an immediate probe by local authorities.The bank branch, which usually has limited access during winter because of its isolation, was a target for unknown perpetrators. Perhaps the isolation of the Dachan area facilitated the execution of the plan by the thieves.
Police have acted promptly, and an investigation is underway to trace the culprits. The Police are currently studying the CCTV footage available at the bank premises in the hope of identifying the culprits and knowing their modus operandi. The close study of the recordings from the security cameras may provide vital leads to solve this serious financial crime.
