One decision that ruined aspirations of M.Tech students in J&K

A decision was taken by the Higher Education Department that degree of M Tech Computer Science and Engineering conferred by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Katra (SMVDU), University of Jammu , NIT Srinagar and Guru Nanak Dev University is not equivalent to Masters degree in Computer Application and Master in Information Technology.

Higher Education Department took this decision allegedly without consulting the members of the Equivalence Committee and the concerned institutions last year.

But it is ironic that in 2019, Higher Education Department took a decision that M Tech in Computer Engineering and M Tech in Computer Science and Engineering have equivalence to Master Degree in Computer Application and Master Degree in Computer Science. But they contradicted their own decision last year.

This decision ruined many aspirations of the students who did M Tech from SMVDU Katra/ University of Jammu/ NIT Srinagar and are now waiting to apply for recruitment by the Public Service Commission.

The distressed students claimed that this decision is not at all relevant and had been taken to favor some of the aspirants known to them. They also claimed that it has demotivated the students who have done M Tech from SMVDU Katra and Jammu University.

Also the students have made a request to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to direct the Higher Education Department to review this decision by conducting proper meetings and consultations with the concerned.
