Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing a continuous issue of rising unemployment. The tall claims of J&K government seem to fail as unemployment rate has reached 25% in the month of March.
This figure shows the condition of snail pace recruitments, lack of opportunities and disengagement of employees.
Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) figures clearly shows that J&K has a 25 percent unemployment rate. J&K is witnessing rising unemployment despite the fact that country’s unemployment rate is 7.6 percent. This shows that unemployment rate is quite higher in J&K than the national average.
The unemployment rates are produced by CMIE using its Consumer Pyramids Household Survey machinery.
Mere announcements for massive job openings will not help but implementing them on ground level will help to curb the issue of decreasing employment opportunities. Government shall tackle the problem of unemployment by making several policies, long term solutions.
As per the officials, with recently announced Rs 28,400 crores Industrial Development Scheme, J&K government aims to provide employment opportunities for over 5 lakh youth in the coming years.
Meanwhile, CMIE figures shows that UT of J&K has the second-highest unemployment rate, Haryana with a 26.7 percent unemployment rate is ahead of J&K. Unemployment rate in the country is decreasing with the economy slowly returning to normal, according to CMIE data.
