JKBOSE to implement CBSE pattern for Class 10 annual exams

The J&K Board of School Education (BOSE) has declared that they will use the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) pattern in question papers for annual regular exams of class 10th students.

Students of academic session 2020-21 in Kashmir division and winter zone areas of Jammu division and Ladakh Union Territory will have to face a new pattern of question papers. Farooq Ahmad Peer, Director Academics JKBOSE issued a notification stating that a new pattern of question papers will be introduced from the academic session 2021-22 for summer zone areas of Jammu division.

The notification further mentions that the Board has made modifications in rules of assessment and examination practices and under new scheme, only 20 percent marks (20 marks out of the total 100 marks) will be decided under internal assessment like CBSE. The assessment of students will be done in a diverse manner on a broad range of curriculum objectives. The J&K Board has also considered an analytical approach, critical thinking and objectivity to modify pattern and design of question papers.

The new pattern will be applied in Annual (Regular) examination which are expected to be held in (October-November) 2021 in Kashmir Division and winter zone areas of Jammu division and Ladakh UT. This new pattern will be used in summer zone areas of Jammu division where exams are scheduled to be held in February-March month of 2022. J&K Board has also made modifications for class 10th syllabus students according to new question papers pattern.

Notification further reads that students can access revised scheme of assessment, model question papers, updated syllabi and courses of studies on official website of JKBOSE (www.jkbose.ac.in). However, examination of reappear and failure candidates will be based on old pattern.

Board also directed all the heads of institutions to ensure that concerned teaching staff check new guidelines of internal assessment. J&K Board has already declared that class 11th and 12th examination for the students will be based on CBSE pattern. Farooq Peer, Director Academics JKBOSE said that they decided to implement CBSE pattern for class 10th examination after class 11th and 12th.
