The vote counting is still going on in almost all of the states but the Associated Press and many others have called this race. Joseph R. Biden Jr. is all set to become the 46th President of the United States. He is leading with 290 seats while his opponent Donald Trump is winning only 214 seats, according to the data of the Associated Press. Joe Biden started his career 48 years ago by being elected the Senator from Delaware.

He addressed the nation for the first time after winning the election on Saturday night. He said that the time has come to heal and restore the soul of America. He pledged that he will be a President who unifies people and not divides. He said that he understands the disappointment of those who voted for Trump. Let’s end the era of demonization in America, lower the temperature and start listening to each other.

Kamala Harris will be the first Black and South Asian woman to be elected the Vice-President of the United States. Her mother Shyamala was born in India and was the daughter of an Indian diplomat. Her father Donald was born in Jamaica. He met Shyamala in the United States when he immigrated to pursue his doctorate degree.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated both Biden and Harris on their win. Congratulating Biden, he tweeted that as the Vice-President his contribution to strengthening India-US relations was critical and invaluable. He looks forward to working together to take India-US relations to greater heights.

For Kamala Harris, he wrote that her success is pathbreaking and a matter of pride for everyone, especially Indian-Americans. PM Modi is confident that the vibrant Indo-US relations will get stronger with her support and leadership.

Donald Trump didn’t seem very happy with the election results. Taking on to Twitter, he wrote, “I WON THIS ELECTION, BY A LOT!”. Trump doesn’t seem to accept the results of this election. He’s continuously saying that Biden won by illegal votes. He tweeted that he got “71,000,000 Legal Votes. The most EVER for a sitting President!”. But hardly anyone other than his fans seems to take Trump’s allegations seriously. His possibly closest friend among international leaders Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, tweeted to congratulate Joe Biden and Kamala Harris accepting the election results.
