No testing of staff members at Jammu University raise many questions

With the pandemic again raising its head across the country, University of Jammu seems to be little concerned as the institution has not even started testing.

Surprisingly 145 students of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) were tested positive for COVID-19 recently. An Assistant Professor and two students tested positive in the Central University at Raya in Samba district.

But the Jammu University seems to have learnt no lesson from the last wave in which many staff members were found positive.

The teaching departments of JU were on winter break from December 24 to December 31 and resumed working on December 3. However unlike during the last wave, no testing of staff members was taking place that has also surprised many of them.

A staff member on condition of anonymity said that despite the fact that the pandemic is fast rising again in Jammu and Kashmir, no testing of staff members is being done that is raising many questions on varsity administration.

Even the Non-Teaching Employees Union of Jammu University has demanded that mass testing of visitors to the varsity and staff be done.
