5 detained under PSA, 2 under NDPS Act in Baramulla

Acting tough against anti-national elements, Police in Baramulla booked five persons under Public Safety Act after obtaining formal detention orders from competent authority.

The five accused persons namely Asif Ali Bhat son of Ali Mohammad resident of Badipora Tangmarg, Mohammad Yaqoob Bhat son of Gh Mohd resident of Tantraypora Palhallan, Waseem Mehraj Farash @Waseem Farash son of Mehraj-ud-din resident of Khanpora, Bashir Ahmad Sualiah son of Late Ghulam Mohammad resident of Mohalla Jadeed Baramulla & Bilal Ahmad Dar @Shakir son of Gh Nabi resident of Wussan Khoie Pattan have been booked under Public Safety Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, police said.

 The booked persons have been detained and subsequently lodged in District Jail Udhampur & Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jail Jammu.

Pertinent to mention here that many cases are registered against these persons and were involved in disturbance of law and order and subversion. Despite their involvement in many FIRs they did not mend their anti-national & anti-social activities.

Acting tough against drug peddlers and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police booked two notorious drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla after obtaining formal detention orders from competent authority.

The notorious drug smugglers namely Showkat Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Abdullah resident of Ganiwani Tangmarg & Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh son of Abdul Samad resident of Mulgam Kunzer have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority. The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu, police said.

Pertinent to mention here that many cases are registered against the said drug smugglers and ware involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Solinda, Khaipora, Tangmarg, Mulgam, Kunzer & other areas of District. Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.

General public appreciated the role of police for their action against drug peddlers/smugglers. Police’ consistent actions against the drug peddlers should reassure the community members that police are making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse.
