5 things that were discussed during PM’s meeting with political leaders of J&K

More than three hour long meeting took place between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and top political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir today. As per reports, majorly the issues of elections, delimitation and restoring statehood was discussed in detail.

Senior congress leader and former Jammu and Kashmir CM Ghulam Nabi Azad kept five demands that included granting of statehood, assembly polls, dignified return of Kashmiri Pandits in J&K, release of political detainees and protection of land rights of people of J&K.

As per reports, the meeting took place in a positive manner and was an open discussion. The PM listened to all the suggestions and inputs patiently and he was happy with the frank and honest views of all the participants. PM and Union home minister Amit Shah assured that the centre is committed to restoring statehood to the region.

According to reports, discussions were made that elections in J&K can happen soon after the delimitation and that most of the participants expressed willingness for it. 

People’s Conference leader Sajjad Lone said that the meeting was cordial and came out in positivity.

J&K Apni Party’s Altaf Bukhari said that the PM patiently heard each and everyone and asked everyone to participate in the delimitation process as this is the way towards elections.

BJP’s Ram Madhav tweeted that the three hours long meet indicates the success of the meeting.
