A controversy broke out on Thursday (June 8) when some female students were not allowed to enter Vishwa Bharti Girls Higher Secondary School at Rainawari in Srinagar with ‘Abaya’ on their heads.
However the school issued a clarification stating that accusation of female students not being allowed to wear Abaya are totally baseless and misrepresented. “The school management always respects the sentiments of all the sections of the society vis a vis dress code” a statement by school read.
It further statedthat no ban has been imposed by the school principal or the management on wearing Abaya but it was politely conveyed to the students to wear school uniform underneath the Abaya.
“It is for the information of all students that they can wear Abaya and no such restrictions have been imposed in classroom” the statement reads.
