ACB nabs technical assistant in J&K’s Bandipora for accepting bribe

Anti Corruption Bureau trapped and caught accused officer Showkat Ahmad red handed while demanding and accepting bribe in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora.

ACB received a complaint from a resident of village Sumlar, Bandipora alleging that he and his father had executed work in their village sumlar District Bandipora titled “Development of playfield by way of earth cutting and construction of retaining walls “under Block Development office Arina Bandipora.

Complainant further alleged that concerned Technical Assistant of Block Development Office Arina Showkat Ahmad is demanding bribe of Rs 20,000 for releasing the remaining amount of their bill of Rs 4,10,000.

Despite of several requests made by the complainant and his father to the officer to release the amount but officer did not pay the amount.

Complainant reached ACB for complaint and requested them to take necessary action.

ACB registered the case under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 as prima facie made out in complaint against the accused public servant Manzoor Ahmad technical assistant in Rural Development Department (REW) Block Arina Bandipura started investigations into the matter.

After the case was registered a trap team was formed headed by DySP Rank officer & independent witnesses, the team caught accused officer Showkat Ahmad alongwith his tout Irfan yousaf while demanding and accepting bribe from complainant & both of them were arrested on the spot after the required legal work was completed and the bribe amount was also recovered in presence of independent witnesses.

Further investigation in the case is going on.
