Actor Irrfan Khan dies four days after his mother passed away

Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan passed away at a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday.

Khan, 54 was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and was since receiving treatment. He died on Wednesday morning.

Irrfan’s spokesperson earlier today had said in a statement “It’s really disappointing to know that there are extreme assumptions being made about Irrfan’s health. While we are truly appreciative that people are concerned, it’s disheartening to see some sources spread extreme rumours and creating panic. Irrfan is a strong person and is still fighting the battle. We really request you to not fall for rumours and not partake in these conversations which are fictional. We have always actively clarified and shared updates on his health and we will continue doing so.”

However the news of death of Irrfan Khan was confirmed later in the day that came as a shock to not only Bollywood but also to Hollywood as the actor had worked in many super-hit movies abroad.

Irrfan Khan’s mother, Saeeda Begum, had also breathed her last in Jaipur on saturday. Khan was not able to attend the funeral due to the nationwide lockdown.

Khan was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour in 2018 year and had went to UK for his treatment for over a year. He returned to India in February 2019 and resumed the shooting for his movie Angrezi Medium.

His movie Angrezi Medium was released online as all the theaters were closed due to spread of Coronavirus in the country. Makers of the movie had planned to re-release the movie but later decided for an online release.

Irrfan made his Bollywood debut with Mira Nair’s Salaam Bombay in 1988, and has worked in numerous films since then. He has also been part of many Hollywood hits including from Jurassic World and Slumdog Millionaire.

Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgam among other Bollywood stars said goodbye to Irrfan Khan in their Twitter posts.
