BJP not considering Ravinder Raina as Chief Minister candidate for J&K

Rumour mills have been unchained for the past sometime claiming that BJP J&K unit president Ravinder Raina will be the candidate for the post of Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir whenever the assembly elections take place in the UT.

However highly places sources have confirmed to JK Newsline that the name of Ravinder Raina is not being considered for the post. “Instead a senior Union Minister from J&K is likely to be asked to serve as the CM if the situation arises in favour of the party. CM of J&K is a question that the party cannot even think about at this time as it is busy in Himachal and Gujarat elections. So anyone triggering rumour mills for any names is taking the people of J&K on a ride” said the senior functionary of BJP.

While a senior Minister in central cabinet belongs to J&K, the party is clear that he could be sent to J&K if the results come in favour of the party whenever elections are held. There has been a consistent campaign to project a Dogra from Jammu as the CM of J&K. “The central Minister is a Dogra from Jammu” the BJP leader informed.

Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are likely early next year even as there has been no official confirmation regarding the dates.
