Body of two-month old Covid positive baby abandoned by parents in Jammu

In a shocking incident that has come to the light in Jammu, a two-month-old baby who tested positive for Covid-19 and died at a hospital in Jammu was abandoned by his parents.

The parents refused to take the body and fled soon after the baby’s death, officials said.

The incident took place at Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital in Jammu.

“The baby had congenital heart issues and died after testing positive for Covid-19. The parents ran away soon after. They left the hospital without taking the body of their baby,” an official today India Today.

The hospital staff said they tried their best to persuade the parents to take the body. However, they did not succeed. The hospital officials are trying to get in touch with the parents but have had no luck so far.

The body has temporarily been kept in the hospital morgue. If the parents cannot be contacted or located, the last rites of the baby will be conducted according to Covid-19 protocols.
