After talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and political parties of Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi, the Ministry of Home has decided to hold dialogue with representatives of Ladakh. But serious issues have emerged between leaders of Leh and Kargil district on important demands.

The Apex Body of the Peoples’ Movement of Ladakh (Leh) wants Union Territory with the legislature but the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) dominated by National Conference and Congress leaders wants to raise the demand for full statehood to Ladakh.

As per reports, a meeting was held at Kargil regarding invitation of the Union Government, KDA leaders have decided that they will raise their voice for full statehood for Ladakh but Leh leaders have decided for UT with Legislature. Some of the NC and Congress leaders in the KDA said that during their meeting with the Union Government they will also raise the demand of restoring Article 370 and 35-A.

The meeting of Union Minister of State for Home, G Krishan Reddy with representatives of Kargil will be held on July 1 in Delhi.  A 15-member delegation comprising representatives of political, religious, social, and student organizations will participate in the meeting. Meeting will also be attended by Chief Executive Councillor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil, Feroz Khan.
