A free dental check-up camp was today organised by Dr Himja Mengi, state secretary and co-incharge Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha JKUT at Balgran Channi Himmat, Jammu. Other doctors who were present along with Dr. Himja included Dr. Arshiya Goswamy, Dr. Deepika Singh, Dr Vijay Thapa and Mr Inderjeet Shan.
Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal, former health minister, was the chief guest on the occasion. This program was named as ‘Dant Upchar aapke dwar’ under the mission fit India.
120 children of the Balgran were examined during the camp and free toothpastes were distributed amongst them.
Dr. Himja told the children to brush twice daily and to avoid choclates and candies. She also informed students to get their dental check-up done every six months.
Dr. Arshiya stressed that the health of gums is important and can be maintained by good oral hygiene. She told that patient should immediately inform to a dentist in case of bleeding gums.
Dr. Deepika demonstrated the correct method of toothbrushing. She told that soft bristle toothbrush should always be used and brushing should never be aggressive.
Dr. Manyal appriciated the efforts of Dr. Himja and her team for organising this dental check-up camp. He said that such camps would be helpful in detecting the dental diseases and an early treatment can be initiated, therefore, serious dental problems can be prevented.
