Those in the age group of 18-45 in Jammu and Srinagar were left surprised when the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir administration announced on Saturday that it will go ahead with vaccination of the said age group from today.

Earlier it was stated by the government of the UT that due to lack of vaccines, the drive for 18-45 age group will be delayed.

“J&K to rollout COVID-19 Vaccination for 18-45 age group from today 1 May in a phased manner, beginning with Jammu & Srinagar. It will be by prior registration and prior appointment only” read an official statement by J&K government.

However JK Newsline initiated an investigation after several people messaged us that they were not able to register for the vaccination for the given age group.

When JK Newsline contacted some of the private health centers that are vaccinating people above 44 years, they told that they do not have doses of vaccines for 18-44 age group.

The government CoWin website, displayed that for May 1 all slots for Gandhi Nagar area of Jammu were booked for 18+ category but no information was available for coming days.

While Gandhi Nagar had all slots booked for May 1, many other areas including Trikuta Nagar do not have any slots for 18+ category at all.
