On Tuesday, Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad called for restoring full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir before the assembly elections and batted for land and job rights for its residents.

Azad said that Kashmiri Pandits who left the valley in early 1990s due to eruption of terrorism should be brought back. He further said that elections should be done but before that statehood should be restored and Kashmiri Pandits should be brought back.

Also, Azad said that the land and job (rights) which have been taken away after abrogation of Article 370, should be secured when statehood is restored.

He visited the Kheer Bhawani temple shortly after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit earlier in the morning then Rahul Gandhi left for Hazratbal shrine. “I came from Delhi today, but the flight reached late and that is why we could not meet here. But since it was in my programme, I came here and will also go to Hazratbal,” he said. Later Azad went to Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar to pay obeisance. Later, he joined Rahul Gandhi at the inauguration of Congress Bhawan at M.A. Road, in Srinagar.
