Several glaring discrepancies have been emerged over utilization of Rs 206 crores which was allocated to Jammu under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) Project. In the year 2017, these funds were allocated by the Union Government for giving the basic modern facilities of urban living in Jammu city.

But many eyebrows have been raised regarding the utilization of these funds as many renovation works in different Nullahs have not been completed even after the sanction of adequate funds.

Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), as well raised questions over the utilization of funds sanctioned under the AMRUT project. On Saturday, Mayor JMC reviewed development activities at ward number 52 of ongoing construction work of Nullah as well as drains.

As per the official handout issued by the JMC, Mayor said that during the year 2018, the construction work of this Nullah along with other Nullahas in the city were started under the AMRUT project to renovate/construct the different Nallahas of Jammu city so that the citizens gets a relief from the flood-like situation in every rainy season. Further he said that even after the lapse of more than three years, its construction has not been completed due to unknown reasons. Under AMRUT, Rs 206.15 crore funds were allocated for Jammu, covering the sectors like urban transport, green spaces, drainage, and sewerage.
