The District Administration, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, orchestrated a human chain event from Thathri Sub Divisional Headquarter to Assar Sub-Divisional headquarter, alongside 60 Km national highway 244, to express solidarity with the families of the victims of recent bus accident in Assar. This initiative also serves to raise awareness about the importance of safe driving and adherence to traffic rules. The event saw a huge gathering of students and local people at the designated points along the route at Thathri, Premnagar, Pul Doda, Khellani, Jathi, and Assar, all dedicated to educating the community about responsible driving.
Supervised by Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh and SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom, the District Administration in Doda coordinated this massive human chain rally. This rally involves students from various schools across the district, stretching from Thathri to Assar. The primary purpose of this human chain is to pay homage to the 40 victims, including children and women, of the recent bus accident near Assar. Beyond the tribute, the rally aims to cultivate awareness regarding traffic rules and regulations, emphasizing safe driving practices among both commercial and private drivers. It also aimed to instil a culture of safe driving, addressing both commercial and private drivers. The participants held placards and banners with messages advocating safe driving practices. They also distributed pamphlets containing crucial information about traffic rules and road safety.
The rally emphasized responsible driving, highlighting the consequences of reckless behaviour on the roads. Participants stressed the importance of wearing seat belts, obeying speed limits, and avoiding drunk driving. Pedestrians were also urged to use designated crosswalks and follow traffic signals for their safety. Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, present at the event, commended the participants’ efforts and underscored the collective responsibility in ensuring safer roads. The public, in turn, appreciated the administration’s initiatives, expressing commitment to following traffic rules and spreading the message of road safety within their communities.
The event concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to abide by traffic rules and encourage others to do the same. Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh assured the public that similar awareness campaigns would be organized in the future to further promote responsible driving habits. Through initiatives like the human chain rally, the Doda administration takes proactive steps to improve road safety, reduce accidents, and create a culture of safe driving within the district, involving the community for a collective and lasting impact.
