Employees of Power Development Department in Jammu and Kashmir have called off their strike after the fulfillment of their demands by the administration. Most parts of Jammu and Kashmir have got electricity back after the strike was called-off.

The talks between the PDD employees and administration were being held and finally at the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday the final decision was taken. The deadlock was broken at around 12.10am on Tuesday when the employees received written assurance from the side of the administration to stop the proposal of merging J&K Power Transmission Corporation Limited (JKPTCL) with Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL).

Three-day long protest and agitation came to end after the demand of PDD employees was agreed by the administration.

As per reports, official team led by Divisional commissioner Ragav Langar were in communication with the striking employees and gave them written assurance on other issues as well which includes salaries.

Dr. Langer said that employees have called-off strike and they will resume to their work immediately. He further added that directions have been given to employees to restore power supply in the affected areas to avoid any more problems.

Sachin Tickoo, one of the leaders of striking employees, said that they have ended the strike as their demands were fulfilled by the administration after the series of meetings and talks held.

He confirmed that protest has been called off and they are satisfied with the response of administration in addressing their issues.

J&K was facing the power issue since past three days as the PDD employees went on strike and shunning all the work. A massive strike was launched by the employees over the government’s proposal of merger of PDD with Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCI). Common people had to suffer immense problems and difficulties as they were without electricity in these cold conditions. Moreover, the administration on Sunday night called in the army to restore electricity in Jammu after employees stayed away from work.

But the strike has been ended by the employees finally and has begun to restore the electricity.
