Even as people in the age group 18-44 are struggling to get vaccinated in Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Territory has stood at the second spot to inoculate a large section of population in the country.

J&K has immunized only 2.57 lakh people in age group 18-44. At least 48 lakh persons from this age group are yet to be vaccinated. On the other hand almost 29 lakh people are to be vaccinated in age group above 44.

J&K is ahead of Delhi which ranked third with 21 percent coverage. Gujarat with 20.5 percent and Uttarakhand with 19.8 percent are at fourth and fifth position.

Health officials in J&K said there is some data discrepancy and the UT will be on the top of the list once new data is released.

Official figures reveal that over 29 lakh people have been inoculated with the first dose so far. If cumulative figures of the first and second dose are taken into consideration, Jammu and Kashmir has immunized 34 lakh people so far.
