In a stern reply to anti-nationals, management of Kashmir Law College, Srinagar, has sacked its principal Dr Sheikh Showkat for his alleged terror links.
The procedure for appointment of new principal has already been started by the authorities.
Showkat has often toed the separatist line in Kashmir’s political sphere while backing Pakistan-sponsored separatist organizations. Showkat hogged the headlines in 2016 as he along with Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Arundhati Roy, Prof. SAR Geelani and others participated in the convention titled as Azadi- The Only Way. This was held at the Press Club of India in Delhi and Shaukat along with others delivered an anti-India speech at the event.
During convention when Anti-India slogans were raised, Delhi police registered a FIR under Sections – 124 A (sedition), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 149 (unlawful assembly), reportedly.
Authorities of college started investigation for finding the past activities of Showkat who as per assessment was secretly in touch with elements of secessionist and terrorist networks in valley. As per reports, Showkat was employed to create false narratives over the fate of Jammu and Kashmir as a part of India and hence provided intellectual legitimacy to the armed conflicts of the secessionists against the Indian state.
Showkat received nearly 5.1 crores as salary and 3.3 crore as additional allowances and pension of Rs. 1 lakh per month. A competent public authority has started to probe against Showkat for invoking relevant provisions of pension-related laws for his terror links.
The authority is finding evidence to establish the Principal as a covert ideologue of secessionist and terrorist networks for stifling his further state allowances.
