A major relief comes for the textile industrialists and people involved in textile business as GST Council on Friday took the decision to defer the hike in GST on textiles from 5% to 12%.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council has decided to defer the decision to increase tax on textiles from 5 per cent to 12 per cent.
The issue of textiles was only discussed in the meeting and other issue such as increase in GST on footwear was not discussed during the meeting.
Many industrialists had opposed the decision of hike in GST of textiles as they claimed that it will make clothing expensive for poor person.
