Mega cyber safety awareness campaign held in schools of Jammu division

To strengthen cyber security to prevent cyber crimes and to tackle its unforeseen challenges by synergizing the efforts of various stakeholders in a sustainable manner, Directorate of School Education Jammu conducted a fortnightly mega cyber safety campaign in Jammu Division.

The Ministry of Home Affairs implemented a scheme called the Indian Cyber Crime Co ordination Centre (14C) to deal with cybercrimes in a coordinated and comprehensive manner. 14C is also actively involved in developing an ecosystem for cyber security, capacity building, public awareness, etc so as to create a conducive atmosphere for trust based transactions and prevention of cybercrimes.

This campaign was carried out as per guidelines of 14C.

Director School Education Jammu, Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma laid emphasis on such awareness programmes on cyber security. He said that with the growing adoption of Digital platforms by Citizens of India, the rate of digital crimes is also increasing day by day. Since the internet is widely used by people in their lives, it is necessary to spread awareness among users for safe and secure use of these platforms/services accessible through the internet.

In this regard, Counselling Cell (DSE) conducted a series of webinars for the stakeholders of the School Education Department on Cyber Awareness by National Experts/Resource Person.

Er. Vikas Razdan, Cyber security analyst and cyber warrior highlighted the challenges related to cyber-crimes;  Meenu Padha, Member JUICCASH ( Jammu University Internal Complaint Committee against Sexual Harassment) created awareness on IT Laws; Mohammad Yasin Kitchloo, SSP( Security Wing) discussed Financial Frauds with the participants;  Shoaib Dar, Founder and Director, Pl Jam Foundation enlightened upon Social Networks, while Chandani Agarwal, Cyber security Awareness coach discussed Cyber Hygiene and Digital Footprints with the participants.
