National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday carried out searches and conducted raids at 16 locations in the Kashmir region.

The anti-terror agency carried out simultaneous raids and searches in various districts in the Union Territory with the help of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police.

In a major crackdown the agency conducted raids across nine locations in Srinagar, Anantnag, Kulgam, and Baramulla as part of its probe into the ISIS-Voice of Hind case.

The probe was conducted by NIA in the Kashmir Valley in connection with an online magazine, Voice of Hind, which emerged as a fountainhead of large-scale radicalization of Muslim youth in the Valley.

Raids were conducted across seven locations in Srinagar, Sopore and Anantnag in the NIA’s ongoing investigation into The Resistance Front (TRF), backed by the Lashkar-e-Taiba and other terror groups like the Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e-Mohammed. The TRF case pertains to the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist apprehended with 5 kg IED in Bhatindi in Jammu. Raids were carried out in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the NIA probe into the LeT’s plans to carry out an IED explosion in Jammu hours before the drone strikes on the Indian Force base there on June 27.

As per the report, a total of 570 people including 70 from Srinagar district alone allegedly involved in law and order cases, have been detained in a fresh crackdown by the security agencies after recent civilian killings in the valley.
