The tall claims made by Jammu and Kashmir government to provide uninterrupted power supply to areas having smart meters falls flat. Last month, J&K government urged people to install smart meters and these areas will be made curtailment free along with supply of quality power to the end user.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that while making an appeal to the people to install smart meters and help the administration in controlling theft and reducing wasteful consumption.

But mere announcements won’t work as ground reality is entirely different. Despite of the claims made by government to provide regular supply to areas having smart meters installed but these claims seems to be vanished in air as there are many areas equipped with smart meters are experiencing frequent power cuts and yet not are curtailment free, as per Early Times.

One of the resident said that claims of the government falls flat as there is no regular electricity and unscheduled power cuts during this scorching heat are going on. Another resident said that availing uninterrupted power supply through the medium of smart meters remains a distant dream.

It is pertinent to mention that during first phase, it was announced that Jammu areas getting electricity from four feeders comprising 6603 houses having smart meters installed will get an uninterrupted power supply.
