An encounter which took place in the forests of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district where three militants were killed, one of them has been identified as Shariq Altaf Baba and other two believed to be foreigners.

These militants infiltrated through Line of Control (LoC).

Baba had travelled to Pakistan on a valid visa for getting education in the Islamic nation. In the name of getting education, he got terror training and infiltrated along with foreign ultras through LoC to conduct terror activities in North Kashmir.

Vijay Kumar, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kashmir said that Shariq had gone through Wagah border in 2018 and had infiltrated recently through LoC. “Shariq was affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terror outfit”, he said.

This is not the new case that Kashmiri youths have travelled to Pakistan on valid visas for short duration. There are many and reportedly security agencies have been collecting data of Kashmiri youths who travelled on a valid visa for duration ranging more than seven days over the last three years.

Also some of the youth who had travelled to Pakistan were called for interrogation and a proper analysis of their activities was carried out by the security agencies.
