A Police inspector, Masroor Ahmad, was seriously injured when he was shot at by terrorists in the Eidgah area of Srinagar today. The inspector was attacked when he was reportedly playing cricket with local boys.

Police said that the seriously injured inspector has been rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a pistol was used by the terrorists to target the police officer.

The area has been cordoned by security forces.

Kashmir Zone Police wrote on X; “Terrorists fired upon & injured Inspector Masroor Ahmad near Eidgah, Srinagar. He was immediately shifted to hospital for treatment. Preliminary #investigation reveals that a pistol was used in this #terror crime. Area cordoned off, case registered”.

The attack has come within days of the Army and J&K Police in a joint operation killing five infiltrating terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

On Wednesday, a meeting of top officers of Jammu and Kashmir and security agencies was held at the headquarters of Army’s 15 Corps in Srinagar. The role of foreign terrorists was the big talking points at the meeting.

It is worth mentioning that most of the terrorists killed while infiltrating through the LoC in Kashmir and the Jammu division were Pakistani nationals. Consignments of pistols have been caught at the LoC by security forces in the past few months.
