Tricolor to be hoisted in every J&K School on Independence Day

The School Education Department has passed the instructions to institutions for Independence Day to hoist tricolour on August 15. Directions have been given to school heads for calling students in school and make them learn the national anthem for singing on August 15 in their respective schools.

Principal Secretary School Education Department (SED) Bishwajit Kumar Singh said that every head of the school across J&K would hoist a tricolour in the school and students would sing the national anthem on Independence Day. He further said that it has been asked to school heads to call only 10 percent of the students enrolled in their schools and not full attendance of students keeping in mind Covid-19 pandemic.

A teacher posted in Kupwara district said though physical attendance of the staff has been made compulsory, main focus is on Independence Day preparations not the community classes.

Also, inspection will be done to check the attendance of the teaching and non-teaching staff in the schools.

The Director School Education Jammu (DSEJ) passed an order which is directed to the heads of the schools that the gatherings should be arranged without bags and books to commemorate the occasion to discuss Independence Day

DSEJ order further reads that videos and photos of the function will be uploaded on Google Drive and shared separately.

Order further read that comprehensive sanitation-cum-plantation drive should be done by all school heads and at least 20 saplings should be planted in every school. Further order read that various steps should be taken to make the schools clean as school buildings were closed.
