There is a spurt in cases where teachers are being dismissed by Jammu and Kashmir government.

During the past two weeks, at least 13 teachers with posting in different schools of Kashmir have been terminated from services. While no or few cases of termination of government officials used to be heard during Article 370 era in J&K, there is a sudden jump in number of dismissal of teachers in the UT.

Directorate of School Education has started the exercise to verify the presence of all teachers in the schools of UT. However after finding that many of the teachers are absent, a notice is shot off to them seeking their reply. An official including a teacher is dismissed from their duty only when the reply is unsatisfactory.

There are teachers who are absent from their duty for even as long as 10 years.

This is the reason that many teachers who were employed by earlier governments who remained absent from their duties are being sacked now. It has been learnt that many of these teachers were drawing their salaries by working in private companies even in other states and countries.

The practice was continuing during the National Conference and PDP era where blue eyed government officials were not shown the doors despite the fact that they violated the norms with impunity.

These teachers are being terminated in terms of Article 113 of J&K Civil Services Rules (Volume I) of 1956 and Rule 30 (V11) of J&KCCA rules 1956. Reliable sources say that many J&K government officials including teachers who have violated the norms will be terminated in near future.
