Ravinder Kumar, IAS, Administrative Secretary of Youth Services and Sports Department, UT Ladakh, chaired an important meeting in his office chamber, regarding the conduct of Winter Sports activities in UT Ladakh.
During the meeting, the Secretary Sports, UT Ladakh, held a discussion with all the Officers/officials and stakeholders to decide on the conduct of Winter Sports activities in UT Ladakh, keeping in view the rising numbers of Covid-19 cases in UT Ladakh and recent Covid-19 SOPs issued by the Government of India as well as UT Ladakh.
The Director, Health and Medical Services apprised the Secretary that it would not be possible to maintain bio-bubble for the players and suggested deferring the conduct of any winter sports event.
Later, in the meeting, it was directed and decided to defer the conduct of winter sports activities in UT Ladakh for the next 3 weeks or till the trend of Covid-19 cases is on the declining side. The next meeting shall be held after 3 weeks to review the situation and feasibility of conducting any winter sports activities.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC, Leh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Leh, Director Health and Medical services, UT Ladakh, DYSSO, Leh, President and representatives of Winter Sports Club Ladakh, etc
